Day 1

Arrival at Siem Reap

Meet and greet at Siem Reap Airport before checking into your hotel. Spend the afternoon visiting the Roluos Group, a collection of ancient monuments just 30 minutes from Siem Reap including the impressive 9th century Bakong temple. Stretch your legs a little more with a bicycle ride around Bakong and the surrounding countryside before returning to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Please note: a short stop to hand in your entry passes – an identity photo is required and taken free of charge on site.

Day 2

Discover Angkor Wat, Banteaty Srei and Ta Phrom

Today you’ll head to the temples of Angkor Wat, a World Heritage Site of towers and bas reliefs built in the 12th century. Visit the pink sandstone temple Banteay Srei, known as the Citadel of Women, and the ancient Ta Prohm monastery where immense branches have taken root in the stonework. End the day by returning to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 3

Explore More Angkor Temples

Spend the day exploring the northern end of Angkor Wat, starting with the Preah Khan and Neak Pean temples; the latter is the only island temple in Angkor. Look upon the Thommanon and Chau Say Tevoda featuring sculptured depictions of the Hindu gods Shiva and Vishnu. You’ll also visit Angkor Thom (or the Great City) composed of 54 towers and the 350 metre-long Elephant Terrace built in the 12th century. Return to your hotel in Siem Reap for overnight stay.

Day 4

Siem Reap to Sihanoukville

Spend the morning exploring crowded Pub Street or the Old Central Market of Siem reap before your airport transfer and flight to Sihanoukville. Check in to your hotel before taking in the beach and town at your own pace.

Please note: flights between Siem Reap and Sihanoukville depart on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Day 5

Cruise the Bay of Cambodia

Today you’ll take a joint (non-private) cruise around the Bay of Cambodia. Embark at Victory Beach before taking to the water; pass uninhabited islands including Koh Rong Samlem boasting a long white beach ideal for escaping the crowds. Discover the marine life of the area snorkelling or swimming in the clear waters. Return to the mainland to spend the evening at leisure.

Day 6

Sihanoukville: Day at Leisure

Spend the day at your leisure. Laze on Otres beach, take to the water scuba diving, jet skiing or on a banana boat ride and look out over the town from the Wat Leu temple.

Day 7

Sihanoukville to Kampot

Travel from Sihanoukville to Kampot, a small city on the river bank featuring French colonial architecture and famous for its pepper. Take a leisurely bike ride through the lush countryside and visit a pepper plantation to see the raw product and learn how pepper is produced. Spend the night at your hotel.

Day 8

Kampot Bay River Boat Trip and Transfer to Kep

Spend your morning on a leisurely half day tour of the Kampong Bay River, riding an ox cart, heading off on a bike ride and walking through the countryside. Enjoy a picnic lunch before transferring to the peaceful town of Kep for an overnight stay.

Day 9

Day Trip to Rabbit Island

After breakfast, travel by speed boat to Rabbit Island off Cambodia’s coastline. Spend a relaxed day laying on the beach and swimming in the waters – packed lunch included! Return to the mainland by speed boat for an overnight stay at your hotel.

Day 10

Phnom Penh and the Royal Palace

Depart for Phnom Penh, stopping along the way for pictures and to observe weaving in local villages. Check into your hotel before touring the National Museum and visiting the Royal Palace; here the Silver Pagoda houses a golden Buddha encrusted with diamonds. Stay overnight at your hotel.

Please note: the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda can be closed without notice for official ceremonies; if this occurs an alternative visit will be arranged, if possible.

Day 11

Phnom Penh and Departure to the UK

Today you’ll have time to learn about the regime of Khmer Rouge. Visit the ‘genocide museum’ of Tuol Sleng, a former secondary school that was used as detention centre, before touring the Killing Fields. Returning to the Phnom Penh, practice your bargaining skills at the Russian Market (time permitting) for fabrics, jewels and handicrafts. Transfer to the airport before your return flight to the UK.

Please note: the Russian Market is closed on public holidays.
