Tsavo

Tsavo National Park is nine times larger than the Maasai Mara and its quiet plains are prime for game viewing without the crowds. Made up of two national parks, Tsavo East and Tsavo West, this reserve is one of the finest in the world for game-rich safaris with a warm, dry climate and varying terrain that provides cover for an abundance of unusual wildlife. Visiting Tsavo East - one of Kenya’s oldest parks - offers flat baobab-dotted savannah intercepted by a doum palm-lined river while Tsavo West is more mountainous dotted here and there with swamps, natural springs and lakes. Amidst the shrubland you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a rare black rhino, Cape buffalo, red elephant and leopard alongside cheetah, hippo, Masai giraffe and Tsavo short-maned lion. Birding enthusiasts can spot over 500 species of recorded birds here! See large reptiles basking in the sun at Crocodile Point or visit Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary, a refuge for endangered black rhino.
