Holidays to Datça Peninsula

Further south of glitzy Bodrum, and north of popular Marmaris, the Datça Peninsula offers up a sleepy, relaxed alternative for luxury beach holidays to Turkey. Such a slightly more secluded location means that it’s delightfully untouched, a coastal corner comprised of pine forests, olive groves, craggy cliffs and hypnotising blue seas. What’s more, in-between these natural gems lie ancient ruins – including the Greek archaeological site, Knidos – as well as authentic Turkish towns and villages where locals go about their day to day lives with abandon. The main town, Datça, lies on a crescent-shaped bay and welcomes sailing boats to its harbour, where a string of traditional restaurants provide lip-smacking Turkish dishes and picturesque views of the sea. Then, a smattering of boutique hotels can be found in Datça too, tucked away amidst the hills and frequented by those in the know, where both cultural experiences and relaxing moments spent in the sunshine are the order of the day.
