Lewa Wilderness

This award-winning, family-run safari lodge perfectly encapsulates the spirit of wildlife exploration, with no shortage of comfort, calmness and style.

As one of Kenya’s original safari lodges, the malaria-free Lewa Wilderness Trails commands authority when it comes to the exploration and understanding of native wildlife and the need for preservation. Owned and run by the Craig family since the early 1970s, their passion and local knowledge is in abundance throughout. From the freshly prepared produce grown on-site, to the multiple conservation projects and most enthralling game drives, nature walks and wildlife encounters across 62,000 acres of protected land; Lewa Wilderness Trails has it all.

About Lewa Wilderness

The carefully manicured lawns, budding flowerbeds and thatched roof cabins of Lewa Wilderness Trails create an immediate sense of serenity and natural calm in this busy and, at times, dramatic wilderness. In addition to the refined touches of comfortable en suite cabins, decked terracing and fine organic food served in the restaurant, this particular safari lodge is best known for its effortlessly welcoming atmosphere and intimate relationship with the surrounding plains. Each individually designed hut benefits from all that the lodge has to offer, a prime, hand-picked location, unbeatable panoramic vistas across the savannah and no-end of exciting wildlife experiences waiting to be enjoyed, ensuring that a full immersion into one of Kenya’s most populated safari regions is always on the horizon.

    About Lewa Wilderness

    Room Types

    Hillside Cottages

The Hillside cottages take advantage of the stunning northerly views from Lewa. On a clear day, which is most days, the view stretches away giving a true perspective of just how remote this setting is. Each room is quite different in its layout and sleeping configuration and takes advantage of the uneven hill side to form unusual shapes which load them with character. Every room has en suite facilities and its own private sitting area, bar and veranda.
