Mexico City Activities


As an ever-growing eclectic city you’ll find there’s no shortage of activities to keep you busy in Mexico City! Take in the delights and madness lucha libre (Mexican wrestling) where contestants dress in costume and entertain the crowd or take a ride along the Xochimilco canals on an eco-friendly boat trip to the hidden floating islands. Wander the streets of La Roma, popping into second-hand bookstores and shoe shops before ending your evenings to the sounds of sombrero-wearing mariachi bands in the Plaza Garibaldi. For a day trip beyond the city limits, head to the holy city of Teotihuacan with its ancient temples and pyramids.

Mexico City Food & Drink


Tacos are definitely a thing in Mexico City. Be sure to visit one (or two or three) taquerias and order tacos al pastor, marinated pork on a spit, rotated over a flame and served in tortillas. Tacos aside, the city is packed with markets where stands sell delicious street food and comida corridas (midday three course meal) are a fantastic way to sample local cuisine at affordable prices. If you’re looking to quench your thirst, juice stands sell delicious juices made from guava, papaya and melon, mescal bars are ubiquitous and there’s an under-the-radar craft beer movement that is definitely worth checking out.

With one of the highest number of museums in the world, Mexico City is a culture and art-lovers haven. Wander the halls of Museo Nacional de Antropología or see the world’s largest collection of Frida Khalo paintings at the Dolores Olmedo Museum. Head to the northern suburbs and enjoy the quiet of the Basilica de Guadalupe, walk along the city’s iconic avenue, Paseo de la Reforma or pop into The Metropolitan Cathedral, the oldest and largest cathedral in Latin America. Yearning for green space? Bosque Chapultepec is an urban park larger than Central Park inNew York.
