This 7-day rail journey travels from Cape Town to Victoria Falls, passing through the spectacular scenery of southern Africa.

This week-long adventure begins in the Cape and passes through the contrasting landscapes of the lush Cape Winelands and the desolate windmill-filled fields of the Great Karoo before travelling onwards to Matjiesfontein, Kimberley and Pretoria. Visit the Big Hole and enjoy a city tour of Kimberley and Pretoria and cross the border into Zimbabwe. Disembark the train for an exhilarating game drive in Hwange before arriving at your final destination: the majestic Victoria Falls.

Itinerary

Day 1

Depart Cape Town

Board the Rovos Rail and depart Cape Town Station, travelling through the beautiful scenery of the Cape Winelands and the unusual landscape of the Great Karoo. In the evening, visit the historical village of Matjiesfontein and enjoy dinner on-board the train.

Day 2 (City tour of Kimberley)

Kimberley

After breakfast, spend the morning at leisure on-board the train. In the afternoon, disembark to enjoy a city tour of Kimberley and to explore the Big Hole and Diamond Museum, the world’s largest man-made excavation. Enjoy a tasty dinner on-board as the train travels through the Highveld towards Pretoria.

Day 3 (Pretoria)

Pretoria

Enjoy a tasty breakfast in the dining cars as you pass through the goldfields of the Witwatersrand towards Pretoria. At noon, the train arrives at Rovos Rail Station in Capital Park, Pretoria. Enjoy an optional city tour or spend the afternoon at leisure. Transfer to your hotel for your overnight stay.

Day 4 (Pretoria - Zimbabwe)

Pretoria - Zimbabwe

In the morning, the train departs Rovos Rail Station and travels north through Nylstroom, crossing the Tropical of Capricorn. Spend the day at leisure as the train travels north to Messina and Beitbridge where you will cross the border into Zimbabwe.

Day 5 (Bulawayo – Mpopoma)

Bulawayo – Mpopoma

Spend the day as you wish, playing board games in the lounge car or reading in your cabin, as the train travels to the industrial capital, Bulawayo. Dinner is served as you travel towards Mpopoma where the train will stop for the night.

Day 6 (Game drive in Hwange National Park)

Mpopoma – Hwange – Thompsons Junction

Enjoy a scenic breakfast as the train departs Mpopoma towards Hwange – a diverse wildlife sanctuary where you will disembark and enjoy a thrilling game drive.

Day 7 (Victoria Falls)

Thompsons Junction – Victoria Falls

In the morning, depart Thompsons Junction and enjoy a leisurely breakfast until the train arrives at Victoria Falls. Spend the day at leisure with countless activities to enjoy, such as white water rafting, bungee jumping over the falls, game viewing and more.
