Activities in Uganda
There are number of activities in Uganda but we’d highly recommend going on safari in both Ishasha National Park and Mburo National Park as the wildlife is different in each park. Trekking to see gorillas is the main attraction in Uganda and they can be found in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Set out on a hike with your guide in search of these elusive endangered species. Should you enjoy hiking further, you can go across to Kibale where trekking chimpanzees is the highlight. Watch them swinging through trees and banging on tree bases whilst in search of fresh vegetation and, if you’re lucky, red monkeys.
Food and Drink in Uganda
While beer is the national drink, Uganda has an amazing gin once made from bananas. Known as Waragi in central Uganda or Kasese in the west, this homemade ’moonshine’ gin was created after the Ugandan Independence and is distilled with sugar cane. Try some local specialties like Matooke which is steamed and mashed up bananas eaten with maize. Or taste the groundnuts that are a stable tradition and often made into a sauce to have as a side.
Attractions in Uganda
Without a doubt, Uganda’s main attractions are the gorillas and the chimpanzees. If you’re looking to enjoy these incredible wildlife experiences, these can easily be built into your tailor-made itinerary. We’d also recommend heading up to Murchison Falls to witness the extraordinary waterfall that feeds the ever-powerful Nile River.
